Almost every day I wake up to find my internet so slow to the point that I am unable to access anything. This morning was no different.
I called TEDATA right away, like I do on an almost daily basis as an attempt to try and fix the WiFi, which usually fails miserably. Therefore, I decided to look for activities to do that do not require any WiFi connection.
Throughout quarantine I have been trying to learn how to stay happy and have fun. Our social media feeds are always full of ideas on how to entertain ourselves during quarantine. I decided to practice some of them, as well as come up with my own.
Many people would say that they don’t have the time because of all the academic burden, and I agree, however,I believe that you have to manage your time and focus on your well-being before anything. *Meanwhile I am writing this and leaving all the projects due unfinished*
So here we go, on day 34, I have succeeded in gathering the top five things that I like to do in quarantine.
#1: Cooking is your best friend
I’m sorry to all my best friends, but currently I have a new best friend. Cooking has been a hobby of mine, but with university requirements I never really had the time to do any cooking; now, since we have more time I started cooking. I also started to write my own cookbook which I have been wanting to start for a while.
So many would say, “but, I don’t know how to cook”. Believe me, neither did I. I once did a cake and forgot to put flour in it. BUT, recipes are everywhere, find what you love to eat and look it up or even try to invent your own recipe.

#2: Family Quality time is a blessing
I’ve always been a family person and I would always prioritize my family over anything. But, as a family we never used to sit that much with each other and have some quality time. Even if you weren’t always a family person, you surely will be during quarantine. Also building forts with your younger siblings is fun, shout out to ROO (my little sister).
#3: TikTok is the real OG
Before quarantine, I never even opened TikTok but I was interested to know what it is. Since quarantine, I’ve been obsessed to the point that so many times when I’m talking to someone and they say a word from a TikTok sound I have this reflex that I have to continue the song. “Pew, Pew, Pew.” It’s an obsession but so fun.
#4: Workout is your energy source
How is workout an energy source? Well, it is. After working out you will feel this tremendous amount of energy and happiness that you cannot achieve through any other form. There are so many online workouts right now, choose your favorite and go for it. In addition, yoga is amazing, shout out to my amazing yogi friend Salma El Kordy, check her out on Instagram.
#5: Spontaneity reveals your talents
Be spontaneous and be happy, always. You can sing around the house and have a mini-karaoke session. You can repaint your house and unleash your inner artist. You can do whatever you want as long as it makes you happy.
Always remember that we can all survive this and that we are extremely privileged. Also, top tip in quarantine, always Facetime your friends, shout out to all of my friends.
Oh, it’s the end of April already.
