Qualifiers from the first round of The Show, a fitness competition organized by Sportholics, are currently prepping for the April 26 final round, which boasts top fitness model and personal trainer Lazar Angelov as a judge.
“Twenty-three qualifiers will be competing against each to reach the final stage, [and] the winner gets EGP 100,000,” said Aly Osman, the commercial and event executive for The Show.
The first stage last month at Smart Village in 6th of October city featured 200 contestants.
“This event is named the Ultimate Physique competition, where competitors pose in front of the judges and the aim for this is to qualify for the best posing and physique bodies,” said Osman.
He said that the competition had six judges, Tavi Castro, Sergi Constance, Simeon Panda, Jaco de Bruyn, Laura Renee, and Laura Danielz – all of whom are internationally recognized fitness models.
“The idea at first was to make a one-of-a-kind event that will take place not only in Egypt but internationally,” said Osman.
Omar Ghazaly, CEO and founder of Sportholics Inc. created a Facebook page for the fitness firm in January 2013 in a bid to revive and promote sports worldwide, Osman said.
Ghazaly is a former World Junior Record holder and Egyptian discus record holder and was the African champion in discus four times.
“Someone had to take the risk (sponsors and private investors) to fund our project and they liked the idea so much, as it was never attempted before,” Osman said.
He added that this event is first “mega-scale” event to happen since the January 25 populist uprising.
