Once a three-year-old who played dress up with her mother’s makeup is now a rising makeup artist and beauty influencer on social media who collaborates with Maybelline, L’Oréal and Huda Beauty Dubai.

Nour Rizk has been working in the beauty industry for nine years and often goes viral for her unique trending content. She worked with celebrities like Asmaa Galal, Carmen Soliman, Angham, and many others on red carpets, film festivals, and photoshoots.

Rizk’s sister Enas Rizk explained that Rizk developed a passion for makeup at a very young age.

“She used to go through our mom’s makeup at the age of three and paint her face,” Enas Rizk told The Caravan

Enas Rizk added that whenever their dad asked what Rizk wanted to do for a living when she grew up, the response was always related to makeup.

“I created a makeup account on Instagram when I was 15 and started taking clients,” said Rizk.

Even though her parents were not supportive of this because they worried that she would not be able to balance her education and “hobby,” Rizk still followed her passion and pursued makeup as a career.

“Growing up, Nour always had this rebellious, wild side,” said Enas Rizk.

Undeterred by her parent’s lack of support, Rizk continued taking clients and doing photoshoots.

She has grabbed the attention of her audience on Instagram by creating different makeup looks and stood out in Halloween 2016, as she was able to demonstrate her love for special effects makeup (SFX).

Following her high school graduation and while attending AUC, Rizk quickly became one of the top makeup artists in Cairo. Not only was she climbing up the ranks in the industry, but she also consistently achieved good grades at university.

“After watching me grow and see the business succeed, my parents started believing that this is what I want to do for a living,” said Rizk.

Only then did she start receiving support from her parents. This included Rizk’s father investing in opening a makeup studio for her.

Meanwhile, Rizk was becoming increasingly independent. After graduating from AUC in the spring of 2022, Rizk traveled to Los Angeles (L.A.) and studied special effects makeup at The Cinema School. She realized that the culture and community in Egypt were not giving her the satisfaction and complete freedom she needed to express her passion for SFX makeup.

“American legends and the people I look up to validate[d] my work, I felt acknowledged,” said Rizk.

Rizk’s return to Egypt after studying makeup in L.A. gave her higher expectations for her work.

“She has new goals like she wants to introduce the SFX world to the Egyptian beauty industry,” explained her manager Hanya Shawky.

Her return from L.A. changed her character not just from her perspective but also in the eyes of those around her.

“She gained confidence in her own skills and edge. Became a lot less impulsive and is a more responsible and well-rounded adult,” said Enas Rizk.

The beauty makeup artist has big goals and dreams for Rizk’s future, with the main one being wanting to further explore her passion for SFX and challenge herself by being involved in more complex sides of the industry.  She hopes to do this by traveling to the United States and working behind the scenes in the SFX makeup industry.
