Temperatures Set for Drastic Drop Starting Tuesday

The official Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) announced unstable weather moving nationwide starting on Tuesday.
Temperature drops of up to six degrees celsius are expected to be followed by heavy rain and sandstorms, especially along the coastal areas. These weather changes are following the recent unusually warm weeks of February.
Director of the Analysis Department at the EMA Mahmoud Shahin told local media that high temperatures in Cairo will range from 15 to 16 degrees Celsius.
Popular weather apps, however, indicate daytime highs as low as 12 in some parts of greater Cairo with forecasts suggesting that these unsteady weather conditions will last until Thursday.
These weather occurrences are not the first ones this year, after Cairo has already seen road closures due to heavy fog and school closures due to heavy rain.
Reports about a snowstorm reaching Egypt this week have made the rounds. These are, however, just rumors, according to Imam Shaker, undersecretary for the Remote Sensing Center at the General Authority of Meteorology.
Shaker also explained that the cause of the low temperatures is due to an air depression coming from southern Europe. It will also increase wind activity that will cause dust and sand to be raised, according to Egypt Independent.
