Freshman Student
I was a thanaweya amma student and as you all know I had to have my exams in the middle of the pandemic which was terrifying for me.
I was scared for my family, myself and the people around me as I didn’t want to cause any one of them any harm.
I spent days thinking about the pandemic and my exams as it was hectic to balance between thinking about my future and about the circumstances that surrounded me but after a while, I tried to relax and it passed well at the end.
Life is a matter of choices and every choice that you make makes you.
AUC was my first and only choice for university after high school but I got hesitant after my scores came out, but then I stuck to my first plan to attend AUC and to declare economics.
I want to study economics for many reasons – it helps you know more about societies, it’s focused on real life and it contributes in the development of many fields by providing a nation with the needed welfare.
I am excited about college life at AUC, having new friends, being able to study what I love in a conducive atmosphere, but what I fear is that the online lectures will last for the whole semester.
For The Caravan‘s previous diary entries in Arabic and English go to our COVID-19 Special Coverage page.
I’m worried about the online lectures as I might be anxious or shy and I won’t be able to get involved in this new phase, the college phase, because I have always felt that real life lectures provide more interaction between professors and students and online lectures would provide this in way smaller range.
What allays my fears somewhat about the online lectures is that I will be a part of the student body in the AUC as I have always wished.
I hope the semester passes smoothly and that we can return to campus in the middle of the semester.
