A few days after quarantine started spreading in Egypt, I had to leave the university’s dorms and head back to my hometown, Alexandria.
At first, I was very overwhelmed with everything happening around me but I also had to make sure that I stay on top of my studies and attend my lectures and not let the current global situation get to me on different levels.
That’s when I suggested to my mom and grandparents that we move to the North Coast, in hopes of finding peace of mind amidst all that was happening.
The beach was exactly the place that would help me put everything into perspective … and that comforted me.
The beach with all it’s magnitude helped me acknowledge or understand that everything is in God’s control and that everything will eventually turn out to be okay.
The sunsets on the beach also taught me that good things can come to an end but only to have something better happen the following day.
The beach is definitely that one thing that kept me the most sane during quarantine and it will forever hold a special part in my heart. When I look back, the beach will stand out as a big part of how I dealt with 2020’s lockdown.
A month after lockdown was significantly eased, the beach still remains this soothing place for me and one that I am very grateful to share with friends, family and every other person who resorts to the beach as their place of refuge.
