I wake up early in the morning, and after doing my prayers and finishing some household work, I prepare for the most passionate everyday duty which is feeding the street cats, then going to the old (Tahrir) campus to feed the campus cats.
Going to the campus every day makes me feel I’m still around and not detached from my AUC environment. That’s my every-day duty for years and before the current lockdown.
After returning home, and preparing breakfast for my family, I start doing my work remotely. Thank God to modern breakthroughs since they are just unbelievable. Ninety percent of my work is done remotely online, including advising students through zoom meetings.
Being away from the campus and doing our work remotely is very heartbreaking to all of us.
Being able to deal with this unprecedented level of global disruption that has never been experienced before took was a hard time. It was also difficult to accept what we are in and trying to cope to move forward to overcome this hardship incident.

Nevertheless, I can say that our current situation is the hardest, yet the most rewarding – we now know the value of normal everyday actions, the value of our colleagues and the lovely environment we are in.
Yes, we are all drained, however, we are filled with hope and sincerely looking forward to returning back to our simple true life which I am sure we will happen soon.
