Another fairly typical day; well, “typical” since mid-March but not for my life prior.
Got up late (because I slept late – again). Made my coffee and returned to the laptop in my “new office” in the corner of my room. Checked emails and looked at the phone for any new WhatsApp messages.
Whew. A slower morning compared to many previous. It’s a good thing, too, because I’ve just used up my high-speed internet AGAIN, so it takes a long time to open messages, respond, view attachments, etc.
Have tried to contact the computer guy to see if I can upgrade my WiFI services for the third time in a little over two months, but so far, no luck reaching him.
Glad there’s a small break before we open up the Writing Center for summer session and grateful to have already spoken with one of our writing coaches just in time to help her set up her profile on our new online platform. Also relieved that spring classes are over and (hopefully for the most part) committee work and other meetings are finished for a while.
For The Caravan‘s previous diary entries in Arabic and English go to our COVID-19 Special Coverage page.
Just hope I can get the upgrade soon before we start getting a lot of students needing help. Then, will just look forward to the end of July and the beginning of August when perhaps there’ll be a real break and maybe, just maybe, the country will have started to open up some, allowing us to actually enjoy whatever bit of summer we have left.
After that, who knows what will happen? Another semester of Zoom classes and meetings, WhatsApp groups and phone calls? Or back to campus again?
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see…
